Trinity Places 32 Student-Athletes on SCAC Winter Honor Roll

San Antonio - A total of 32 Trinity student-athletes earned Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Winter 2017 Academic Honor Roll accolades. 

To qualify, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.25 for the semester. Additionally, a student-athlete must be a regular member of a varsity athletic team, in a sport sponsored by the conference.

The Tiger sports represented on the SCAC Winter Academic Honor Roll were men’s and women’s basketball, and men’s and women’s swimming & diving. Trinity men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams placed 20 honorees on the list, while men’s and women’s basketball had 12.

Led by South Region Coach of the Year Cameron Hill, the women's basketball team finished the season with a 28-2 record, won the SCAC Championship for the third time in five seasons, and advanced to the NCAA Division III Round of 16.  The Tiger men's basketball team was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the SCAC Tournament.

Trinity's swimming & diving teams both won SCAC Championships during the winter, and sent four individuals to the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships. The women's team took the conference title for the 14th straight season, while the men secured their sixth straight championship. Head Swimming Coach John Ryan, Assistant Coaches Scott Trompter and Kimberly Jones, and Head Diving Coach Stan Randall were named the SCAC Women's Coaching Staff of the Year.
