Kelsey Oelze, a former Trinity standout, is in her third season as the Tigers track & field throws coach.
Coach Oelze earned a bachelor’s degree from Trinity in 2014 with a major in political science and a minor in history. Competing in track & field from 2011-2014, Coach Oelze more than made her mark on Trinity’s program.
The talented Coach Oelze was a three-time All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) honoree in the javelin, winning the event during her junior and senior years. She was also a two-time All-SCAC honoree in the shot put and discus and once in the hammer throw. Additionally, Coach Oelze was named SCAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week six times during her career, and the conference honored Coach Oelze in 2014 with the SCAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Year award.
A native of Phoenix, Arizona, Coach Oelze is a graduate of Sunnyslope High School, located in the Valley of the Sun. She was a four-year varsity letter winner in track & field and was ranked in the top-10 in the state heptathlon. Coach Oelze also amassed four letters in volleyball and was a key member of the Sunnyslope three-time state championship team. The versatile Coach Oelze chalked up two letters in basketball.
In addition to her Trinity duties, Coach Oelze works as a sports performance coach at San Antonio’s Jubilee Academy, a K-12 charter school.
Coach Oelze has a pit bull named Biggie and enjoys taking him on walks. She also is an avid volleyball and football player.
