Mike Cooley has been Trinity Aquatics Director since 2017. He joined the Trinity staff in 2007 as the Aquatics Assistant.
Mike has 30 years experience in aquatics and recreation. He is a certified Red Cross instructor for lifeguard training, CPR and First Aid, and holds a Certified Pool/Spa Operator certificate from the National Swimming Pool Foundation.
He worked five years as the aquatics coordinator for the YWCA and YMCA in San Antonio. Mike managed a staff of lifeguards, swimming instructors and coordinators while maintaining the operating budget. He taught American Red Cross lifeguard training classes, and implemented new emergency action plans for the YWCA Aquatic Center.
Prior to his position at the “Y,” Mike spent two years as assistant pool supervisor at Buchman Aquatics Center in Dallas. He managed a staff of lifeguards, maintained the aquatics fitness staff and also taught water aerobics for both Dallas Parks and Recreation and the YMCA. He also coached the summer league swim team.
In addition, Mike coached Junior USA Track and Field in Dallas. He formed and coached the Kiest Track and Field Club, The J.C. Track Club and the W.B.J. Track Club. Mike was successful in coaching all three clubs to the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation State Finals in the 1993, 1994, 1995 seasons. In five years, Mike had 28 state qualifiers in TAAF Track and Field and Swimming.
Mike earned a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education and aquatics from the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff in 1990. As a student-athlete, Mike lettered in track and field, and football. Mike was the interim director of intramural sports from 1989-1990.
Mike and his wife, Adron, have a daughter, Angela.
