Ashley Martinez is in her second season as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Trinity. Ashley works with the Sports Medicine staff, providing athletic training coverage for Trinity’s 18 intercollegiate sports.
A native of Del Rio, Texas, Ashley came to campus from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. For two years, Ashley cared for a variety of student-athletes and created detailed rehabilitation schedules for the Islanders.
Ashley earned a Master of Athletic Training degree from Texas Tech University in the spring of 2015. Over a 10-month period Ashley served as an intern athletic trainer, focusing on track & field and cross country.
While in Lubbock, Texas, Ashley worked for Covenant Health Sports Medicine, providing medical coverage for local high schools. She also worked for the Texas Tech University Health Science Center. One of her assignments was to assist certified athletic trainers with exit physicals.
She received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Houston (TX) in kinesiology and exercise science in 2013. Ashley gained valuable experience as an athletic training student while studying at Houston. Her specialties were women’s soccer, softball, and women’s tennis.
Ashley also worked at the Southland Conference Women’s Soccer Tournament, the Conference-USA Women’s Tennis Tournament, and the NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament.
A licensed athletic trainer, Ashley holds certifications in American Red Cross CPR and AED, and the Graston Technique M1.
