1999 SEASON RECAP
Two Trinity runners qualified for the 1999 NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country Championships held at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
Tom Pillow of Phoenix, Ariz., and Cliff Ruehl of Pearland, Texas - both of whom graduated - represented the Tigers. It marked the first time Trinity sent two runners to nationals, which sported a field of over 200 participants.
Pillow, making his third trip to the NCAAs in four years, finished at No. 104 with a time of 25:15.3. Ruehl, on his first NCAA trip, came in at No. 170 with a mark of 25:52.7.
The two Tigers qualified for nationals with outstanding showings at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional Championship in Sewanee, Tenn. Pillow finished fourth out of 127 runners with a 26:30. Ruelh was sixth at 26:40.
As a team. The Tigers finished fourth at regionals, behind Emory, Mary Washington and Christopher Newport.
Pillow and Ruehl delivered a first and second-place finish for the Tigers at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) championships at Conway, Ark. Pillow won the championship for the third time - and was named SCAC Runner of the Year for the third time - clocking in at 26:42. Ruehl was runner-up at 26:49. Trinity was second as a team, behind Rhodes College.

--Women won SCAC Track and Field Championships in 1995, 1997 and 1999.
--Eight individuals have qualified for track and field nationals since 1995.
