San Antonio - The Tiger men's and women's cross country squads began the campaign in style by claiming team and individual 5k victories Friday morning at the Alamo City Opener at Olmos Basin Park.
Trinity's men won their event with a perfect score of 15 points, led by Elliot Blake with his time of 15:52.2. Blake broke his personal-best time in the 5K by more than a minute.
The Tiger women also scored a perfect mark of 15 points, led by Laura Taylor's personal record of 18:25.6. Taylor also posted the sixth-best time in Trinity cross country history for the 5K.
Blake was followed closely by Brian Wongchotigul, Jacob Hammond, Michael Erickson, and Colton Hawkins. All five scoring runners finished less than a minute apart, and the Tiger men's team had seven runners place in the top 10.
McFadden's run also places her in the top 10 in school history, finishing less than five seconds behind Taylor for the top spot.
Trinity will compete at the Our Lady of the Lake Collegiate Invitational, hosted Windcrest Golf Course in San Antonio, on September 9.
