San Antonio - The Trinity men's and women's cross country teams captured their second consecutive meet by winning the Our Lady of the Lake University Invitational Saturday morning at Windcrest Golf Course.
Despite a hot and humid morning on the course, Head Coach Emily Daum, junior Jacob Hammond, and sophomore Molly McCullough discussed how the Tigers were able to be successful once again. (For mobile users, please click here for the video.)
Trinity's men won the OLLU Invitational by a score of 24, outdistancing Texas A&M University-Kingsville, which posted a 53. A total of eight teams competed in the 8k race.
The Tiger women brought home first place in the 5k event, scoring 20 points in the seven-team field. Texas A&M-Kingsville was the closest competitor, with 69 points.
The Tiger teams first brought home a championship this season on September 1 at the Trinity-hosted Alamo City Opener at Olmos Basin Fields.The women's race featured six Trinity runners in the in the top-10, including Emma Maceachern who finished in 19:11.
Five of the Tiger men were top-10 finishers, including fourth-place runner Brian Wongchotigul, who clocked in 11 seconds behind Hammond.
McCullough has now finished as the top collegiate runner in each of the first two races this season, and was last week's Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Runner of the Week.
The Tiger teams head to Fayetteville, Arkansas, October 1 for the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival.
