Tiger Women's Team Fifth, Men 11th at Rose-Hulman Pre-Nationals

Terre Haute, Indiana - Trinity's women's cross country team finished fifth at the Rose-Hulman Pre-Nationals Meet on Saturday afternoon, while the Tiger men finished 11th.

Both men's and women's teams were split among two different meets on Saturday, with part of the Tiger squads also competing at the University of Incarnate Word Invitational in San Antonio.

The Tiger women scored 179 points in the highly competitive meet, with two runners finishing in the top 15.  The men's team scored 332 points for an 11th-place finish.  The two meets featured eight nationally-ranked teams and more than 20 teams ranked in their respective regions.

Vanessa Moreno and Maddie Murphy led the Tiger women's team in 13th and 14th place, respectively.  Moreno reached the finish in 22:41, just three seconds ahead of Murphy.  Jessica Pagano was 26th in 23:01, while Jackie Newell finished 54th in 23:43.  Jessie Dean was 72nd, while Michelle Oberndorf was 86th individually.  Also competing were Nicola Hill and Jessica Needle.

The men's race saw Trinity's Sal Perdomo finish 37th to lead the team, racing to the finish just nine seconds ahead of Robert Edmonds in 45th place for the Tigers.  Francisco Escobedo was 55th in 26:36, while Mark Greene finished in 27:07 for 84th place individually.  Also racing for the Tiger men were Taylor Piske, Gerardo Hernandez, Chris Soto, and Brandon Douglas.

Trinity returns to action October 27, competing in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships in Irving, Texas.
