Tiger Runners Prepare for NCAA Cross Country Nationals

San Antonio - Trinity University sophomores Rosemary Steup and Maddie Murphy will compete Saturday at the NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championship at Winneconne, Wis.
 
Steup (Kingwood, Texas/Kingwood) and Murphy (Friendswood, Texas/Friendswood) will run the 6k-race starting at 11 a.m. Central Time on the Lake Breeze Golf Course. Wisconsin-Oshkosh is the host school for the men's and women's championships.
 
It will mark the second time the Tiger pair qualified for the national meet.
 
Steup and Murphy earned slots at the NCAA Championship with high finishes at last weekend's NCAA South/Southeast Regional at Seguin, Texas, hosted by Texas Lutheran. Steup placed fifth with a time of 22:52.9, and Murphy was sixth, clocking in at 22.53.9.
 
Murphy captured the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference title at Sewanee, Tenn., with a time of 22:07.90. Steup, the 2010 runner-up, placed fourth, crossing the finish line in 22:24.78.
 
Trinity's head women's and men's head cross country coach is Jenny Breuer, and the assistant is Derick Lawrence.
