Two Trinity Runners Head for NCAA Cross Country Nationals

Two first-year runners will represent the Tigers at the NCAA Division III Women’s Cross Country Championship Nov. 20 at Waverly, Iowa.

Rosemary Steup and Maddie Murphy will carry the Trinity standard to the 6k race.

Steup, from Kingwood, Texas, earned a slot by finishing fourth at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional at Memphis, Tenn., on Nov. 13. She clocked in at 22:26. In last month’s Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships, hosted by Trinity at Texas Lutheran in Seguin, Texas, Steup placed second and was named the SCAC Freshman of the Year.

Murphy, from Friendswood, Texas, finished 10th at the regional, and registered a time of 22:47.

Both Tiger student-athletes were also named to the All-Region Team.

Trinity’s cross country men’s and women’s teams are coached by Jenny Breuer.
