Trinity's Murphy Named SCAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week

San Antonio - Trinity University Tigers first-year student-athlete Maddie Murphy has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week.
 
Murphy, from Friendswood, Texas (Friendswood), placed 134th out of 469 runners at last week's Arkansas Chile Pepper Festival at Fayetteville, Ark. Her time of 18:39.71 on the 5k course was a 1-minute, 14-second improvement from her previous mark at the Incarnate Word Invitational in San Antonio.

Murphy currently ranks sixth on Trinity's all-time 5k list. She helped guide the Tiger women to 39th place, out of 56 teams, a number of which were members of the NCAA Division I.
 
Trinity, an NCAA Division III institution, will host the SCAC Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships Oct. 30, on the campus of Texas Lutheran University in Seguin.
