TWO TIGER CROSS COUNTRY RUNNERS MAKE SCAC ALL-SPORTSMANSHIP TEAMS

San Antonio - Trinity University Tigers senior Chass Armstrong and junior Caitlin Masse were selected for the second annual Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's and Women's Cross Country All-Sportsmanship Teams, respectively.

Each conference head coach was asked to elect one member from his or her team who displayed good sportsmanship throughout the season. The SCAC placed a special emphasis on sportsmanship each year - asking all fans of the conference to exhibit good sportsmanship at all conference functions throughout the 2009-2010 season.

Masse, from Katy, Texas (Cinco Ranch), became an All-American by placing eighth at the NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championships. Her finish was the best-ever by a Tiger cross country runner, male or female, in NCAA competition. She became the second Trinity cross country runner to achieve All-America status. Masse captured the NCAA South/Southeast Regional title, and was named the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Regional Women's Athlete of the Year. She was runner-up at the SCAC meet, and the team placed fifth at the conference meet.

Armstrong, from Boerne, Texas (Boerne), earned All-Region honors with a 14th-place finish at the Regional Championship. He missed the NCAA cut by 12 seconds. Armstrong was seventh at the SCAC Championship, leading his team to a third-place finish.

The Tiger teams are led by head coach Jenny Breuer.
