Hazelwood, who earned a bachelor of arts in English from Trinity in 2009 (with a minor in religion), will assist head Coach Julie Jenkins with the successful Trinity program.

Coach Jenkins, who has completed 27 seasons at the Tigers helm, has guided Trinity to the NCAA Division III playoffs 18 times, and to 15 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships. Included in the Tigers postseason records are a 1999 NCAA runner-up finish, a third-place ranking (2002), and five trips to the quarterfinals, the last of which came in 2009.

Coach Hazelwood, a native of Baytown, Texas (Barbers Hill), contributed greatly to the Trinity's team's résumé.

As a middle blocker for the Tigers from 2006-2009, she played on three SCAC Championship teams (2006, 2007, 2008), and two of the NCAA quarterfinal squads (2006, 2009).

Hazelwood was elected to the American Volleyball Coaches All-America Team in 2009, as well as the All-South Region Team. She made the All-SCAC Teams in 2007 and 2009, and is ranked second in Trinity career blocks, with 520. Hazelwood is also third in single-season blocks, racking up 166 in the 2009 campaign.

In addition to her honors on the volleyball court, Hazelwood amassed a cumulative grade point average of 3.43, and was twice named to the Dean's List. She was a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, volunteered for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, and volleyball's "Dig Pink," among other programs.

Young volleyball players benefited from her experience, as she coached at the Bexar County Volleyball Academy, and Julie Jenkins Volleyball Camps.

Hazelwood also put her experience to work in Trinity's Intramural program, serving as interim director of Intramurals and Club Sports from December 2009 to May 2010.

The versatile Coach Hazelwood held the position of director of volleyball operations and summer camps at Rice University, from August 2010 to July 2011. In the same time period, she coached the Texas Revolution Volleyball 18s Elite Team, with San Jacinto College Coach Sharon Nelson.

Most recently, Coach Hazelwood was the assistant at Marietta College, an NCAA Division III institution located at Marietta, Ohio.

The 2011 Tigers advanced to the SCAC Championship match, and completed the season with a 22-16 record. A strong contributor to the season was Coach Hazelwood's younger sister Maddy, a senior middle blocker. The two sisters played on the same Tiger teams in 2008 and 2009. A third Hazelwood sister, Audrey, is also a member of the Trinity team, but was injured and did not play this season.
