Trinity Opens SCAC Tournament With Win Over Sewanee
Jackson, Mississippi - The fifth-seeded Trinity Tigers opened the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship Tournament with a 25-17, 25-16, 25-17 victory over No. 12 Sewanee: The University of the South on Friday.
Trinity (20-15) takes on fourth-seeded Birmingham-Southern at
2:30 p.m. today in the quarterfinals.
The Tigers hit .366 in the first-round match, with 40 kills, six
errors, and 93 total attacks.
Catharine Found recorded a .438 mark, with seven kills, no errors,
and 16 total attacks. Maryn Swierc dished out 29 assists, and had
10 digs. Leslie Green paced the Tigers in digs, with 11, and
Meredith Erwin added 10.
Bridget Bohmann produced a Tigers-best nine kills, and Sara
Robertson fired in five service aces, tying a team season-high
mark.
The tournament runs through Saturday, with the winner receiving an
automatic bid to the NCAA Division III playoffs.
