Trinity Volleyball Shuts Out Schreiner

San Antonio – The Trinity Tigers volleyball team, ranked No. 22 in the NCAA Division III, shut out the Schreiner Mountaineers 25-18, 25-18, 25-19 Wednesday night in Sams Gym.

First-year setter Maryn Swierc hit .375 in the match, with 16 total attacks and two errors. She also had six digs and two blocks. Sophomore outside hitter Madison McMahon had a total of eight kills for the match. First-year middle blocker Kelsey Daniel hit .333, with five kills, nine total attacks and two errors.

Senior setter Caiti Troyer accounted for 29 assists, and increased her season total to 209. Troyer now has 2,324 career assists, fifth on Trinity's all-time list. In addition, Troyer had nine digs, as did senior defensive specialist Emily Hilliard.  Sophomore libero Meredith Erwin picked up eight digs, and fired in three service aces.

Junior middle blocker Maddy Hazelwood blocked six shots, to go with five kills.

Next up for the Tigers (4-2) is the Trinity University Fall Classic Friday and Saturday. Trinity takes on Pacific (Ore.) at 3:15 p.m. Friday, and 13th-ranked Christopher Newport (Va.) at 7:30 p.m.
