Trinity Volleyball Ranked 12th in AVCA Preseason Poll
San Antonio – The Trinity Tigers
volleyball team has been ranked 12th in the American Volleyball
Coaches Association Division III Preseason Poll.
Trinity received 309 points in the voting, just eight points behind
11th-ranked Wittenberg.
Led by Head Coach Julie Jenkins, in her 26th year at the Trinity
helm, the Tigers open their season Sept. 1 at Texas Lutheran
University in Seguin, Texas. The Tigers, who return nine players
from the 2009 team, will host the Trinity University River City
Classic Sept. 3-4 in the William H. Bell Athletic Center.
Last season, Trinity qualified for the NCAA playoffs for the 18th
straight time, and won the South Regional at Georgetown, Texas. The
Tigers defeated Randolph-Macon, defending national champion
Emory, and host Southwestern in the regional, earning a trip to the
national quarterfinals for the fifth time in school history.
Top-ranked Juniata beat Trinity in the quarterfinals at John
Carroll University in Ohio.
Trinity completed the year with a 30-12 record (13-5 SCAC) and a
No. 8 national ranking.
