Volleyball Returns to Action With Win Over Texas Lutheran Wednesday
San Antonio - After more than a week off, the
Trinity Tigers won their fourth straight match with a 25-18, 25-16,
25-20 victory over the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs Wednesday night in
Sams Gym.
Trinity, which beat Texas Lutheran 3-1 on Sept. 1 in Seguin, Texas,
improved its record to 11-8. The Bulldogs now stand at 7-9.
Tiger senior setter Caiti Troyer recorded 32 assists, and tied
for the team lead in digs, with 13. Troyer, in fifth place on
Trinity's all-time list for assists, now has 692 for the season,
and 2,838 in her career. Sophomore outside hitter Madison McMahon
shared the lead in digs, while accounting for nine kills.
Junior middle blocker Maddy Hazelwood picked up 10 kills and seven
blocks in the match, while hitting .421 (19 total attacks, two
errors). Junior right-side player Catharine Found also blocked
seven shots, adding to the team total of 11.
TLU senior outside hitter Jessica Stetler led the match with 17
digs, and paced the Bulldogs with 10 kills. Senior libero Blair
O'Brien added 11 digs. Sophomore setter Manda Martin dished out 25
assists, and made nine digs. Sophomore middle blocker Marcia
Sagebiel blocked two shots in the match.
Trinity continues its conference campaign Saturday and Sunday at
the SCAC West-Central Tournament No. 2 at Millsaps College in
Jackson, Miss. The Tigers are 4-3 in SCAC play. Texas Lutheran
travels to Alpine, Texas, Friday, for a 6 p.m. ASC match with Sul
Ross. The Bulldogs are 6-3 in their ASC schedule.
