Trinity Volleyball Swept by Mass.-Boston and Whitworth Saturday
San Antonio – The 12th-ranked Trinity
Tigers volleyball team dropped two matches by scores of 3-0
Saturday at the Trinity University River City Classic in Sams
Gym.
Massachusetts-Boston beat the Tigers 25-16, 26-24, 25-23 in
Saturday's opener. Whitworth was a 25-20, 25-21, 25-20 winner
over Trinity in the second match of the day.
Trinity (3-2 overall) went 2-2 at its tournament, defeating both
Hardin-Simmons and McMurry 3-2 in yesterday's action.
In the U. Mass match, Madison McMahon led the Tigers with eight
kills, and Maddy Hazelwood added seven. Caiti Troyer accounted for
25 assists, and tied for the team lead in digs, with 10. Meredith Erwin also had 10 digs. Leslie Green fired in two aces. Maryn Swierc and Desie Baker each blocked three shots.
McMahon led Trinity with 11 kills against Whitworth, and Baker
had 10. Baker hit .556 in the match, with 18 total attacks and no
errors. Troyer produced 26 assists and 12 digs. Emily Hilliard also
recorded 12 digs. Erwin was the ace leader, with two.
Trinity will host Schreiner at 7 p.m. Wednesday, before hosting
another two-day tournament next weekend.
