Trinity Volleyball Finishes SCAC West-Central With Two Wins
San Antonio - The 14th-ranked Trinity Tigers beat the No. 11 Colorado College Tigers 25-17, 25-15, 20-25, 25-12 Saturday at the SCAC West- Central Tournament in Sams Gym.
Trinity (11-3, 3-0 SCAC) concludes the event with a 4 p.m. match against Millsaps College.
Senior outside hitter Amy Mittelstaedt of Trinity tied for the match lead in kills (14), and led in aces (three) and digs (17). Mittelstaedt also had five blocks. Junior setter Caiti Troyer contributed 48 assists and 11 digs.
Senior middle blocker Aly Hazelwood played a strong defense, with nine blocked shots. Hazelwood also had 10 kills.
Junior right-side player Tayler Malloy chalked up 11 kills and hit .786 (11 kills, 0 errors, 14 total attacks). First-year libero Meredith Erwin amassed 11 digs for the Tigers.
San Antonio - The Trinity Tigers went 4-0 at the SCAC West- Central Tournament after a 25-19, 22-25, 25-18, 25-16 victory Saturday over the Millsaps Majors in Sams Gym.
Trinity (12-3, 4-0 SCAC), ranked No. 14 in the NCAA Division III, earlier beat No. 11 Colorado College 3-1.
Senior outside hitter Amy Mittelstaedt led the Millsaps match with 16 kills. She added 13 digs and three blocks.
Junior setter Caiti Troyer accounted for 52 assists, 15 digs and three blocks.
First-year libero Meredith Erwin was the digs leader, with 23. Senior middle blocker Aly Hazelwood had eight blocks, along with two aces and seven kills.
Senior middle blocker Ginger Haley contributed 12 kills and hit .455 (12 kills, 2 errors, 22 total attacks). Junior right-side player Tayler Malloy also had 12 kills and hit .391 (12 kills, 3 errors, 23 total attacks).
First-year outside hitter Madison McMahon amassed 11 kills, and junior defensive specialist Adriene Busch was responsible for 12 digs.
Trinity will compete next Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 27, at the SCAC East-West Tournament at DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind.
