Amy Mittelstaedt Named to SCAC All-Sportsmanship Team

San Antonio - Trinity University Tigers senior middle blocker Amy Mittelstaedt of Phoenix (Xavier College Prep) has been named to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball All-Sportsmanship Team.

The SCAC has placed a special emphasis on sportsmanship throughout the 2009-2010 campaign. Each conference head coach was asked to elect one member from their team who displayed good sportsmanship throughout the season.

Mittelstaedt was earlier named the Most Valuable Player of the NCAA Division III South Region Championship tournament, held at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. The Tigers won the regional with 3-0 victories over Randolph-Macon, defending national champion Emory, and host Southwestern. Mittelstaedt registered 25 kills, six service aces and 36 digs in the three matches.

For the season, Mittelstaedt led the team with 420 kills, and also produced 42 aces and 393 digs.

Trinity, led by 25th-year head coach Julie Jenkins, advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals at University Heights, Ohio, falling to national finalist Juniata. The Tigers completed the campaign with a 30-12 record and were ranked No. 8 in the NCAA.
