Tiger Volleyball Set for NCAA Regional Championships
San Antonio - Trinity's volleyball team will open up its 2009 postseason with a match against Randolph-Macon College on Thursday afternoon in Georgetown, Texas.
The Tigers received an at-large bid to play in the seven-team regional tournament, hosted by Southwestern University. Trinity's game notes for the NCAA Playoffs are now available, detailing the team's previous postseason experience.
The tournament Web site will provide access to live stats, live video, and other tournament details. The site is provided by tournament hosts Southwestern.
Led by seniors Ginger Haley, Aly Hazelwood, and Amy Mittelstaedt, Trinity finished third at the SCAC Tournament last weekend. Hazelwood earned First Team All-SCAC honors, while Haley was a Second Team All-SCAC selection.
Junior setter Caiti Troyer was named Third Team All-SCAC, while fellow junior Alexis Edwards was the team's lone representative on the SCAC All-Tournament Team. Troyer was also selected to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Third Team.
Trinity, led by 25th-year head coach Julie Jenkins, holds an overall record of 27-11 this season. The winner of Thursday's match will face top seed Emory University on Friday.
