Trinity Volleyball Sweeps DePauw to Earn Third Place Finish in SCAC

Atlanta, Georgia - The Trinity Tigers took third place in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Tournament Saturday with a 25-17, 25-23, 25-22 victory over DePauw at Oglethorpe University.

Trinity, seeded fourth, improved to 27-11 after defeating No. 3 DePauw. Earlier in the day, Trinity lost 1-3 to top-seeded Southwestern in the semifinals. The Tigers, ranked No. 17 nationally, await a possible bid to the NCAA Division III playoffs. Trinity had previously won 11 straight SCAC Championships.

Junior setter Caiti Troyer amassed 37 assists and 12 digs against DePauw. First-year outside hitter Madison McMahon led the team in kills, with 12, while also blocking four shots. Senior middle blocker Ginger Haley led with seven blocks.  

Alexis Edwards, a junior libero registered a Tigers-best 18 digs. Senior middle blocker Aly Hazelwood contributed four blocks and 11 kills. Troyer, Hazelwood, junior defensive specialist Emily Hilliard, and first-year defensive specialist Meredith Erwin each fired in a service ace.

On Friday, Hazelwood was elected to the All-SCAC First Team, and Haley made the Second Team. Troyer earned All-SCAC Third Team recognition, and also made the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VI  Team.
