Trinity Falls to DePauw Saturday Afternoon at SCAC Divisional
Colorado Springs, Colorado - The Trinity Tigers, ranked No. 15
in the nation, could not hold on to a 2-1 advantage as the DePauw
Tigers won 25-22, 18-25, 19-25, 25-23, 15-12 Friday at the second
SCAC East-West Tournament, held at Colorado College.
Trinity now stands at 20-7 and 10-3 SCAC. Earlier in the day, the
Tigers shut out Sewanee: University of the South 3-0. DePauw
received votes in the latest Division III poll.
Tiger first-year outside hitter Madison McMahon and junior
right-side player Tayler Malloy each registered 14 kills. Junior
setter Caiti Troyer amassed 47 assists and 15 digs. Alexis Edwards,
a junior outside hitter, led the team in digs, with 20.
Senior middle blocker Ginger Haley produced five blocks for the
Tigers. Senior outside hitter Amy Mittelstaedt fired in two service
aces, as did junior defensive specialist Emily Hilliard.
Mittelstaedt also had 13 kills, 15 digs and four blocks, while
Hilliard added 11 digs.
Senior middle blocker Aly Hazelwood chalked up four blocks and nine
kills.
Trinity will play Oglethorpe at 10 a.m. Mountain Time Saturday, and
concludes the tournament at 4 p.m. with host Colorado College,
ranked 14th nationally.
