Thavindra Ekanayake

Thavindra  Ekanayake has set the bar high. She is a first year that comes all the way from Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Ekanayake made an impressive showing during the fall. At the ITA regionals tournament she came in second to her top-seeded teammate, Katy Poettcker. Thavindra and Katy joined together in the doubles competition and came in first beating the top seed of Hardin-Simmons, Mertz and Brazell.

Ekanayake and Poettcker then advanced to the ITA National Small College Championships with their first place showing at the regionals tournament. There, they were beaten by Linfeild's Olbrich and Katter.

Thavindra has proven that she has a strong desire for success. Her favorite quote comes from her family that told her, "You have to be the best that you can be, no matter what". She is majoring in accounting and economics with the hopes of being an accountant in a big firm. Her most treasured sports related memory is when she won the women's double national championship while in high school.
