Katie Griffith Opens NCAA Singles Championships Friday

Fredericksburg, Virginia - Sophomore Katie Griffith will open play in the NCAA Division III Singles Championships at the University of Mary Washington on Friday morning.

Griffith will open play against eighth-seeded Grace Baljon of Williams College on Friday, beginning the 32-player singles tournament.  The tournament will conclude on Sunday.

Griffith was 13-10 in singles this season, as well as holding a 15-8 overall doubles record.  She played most of the season as the No. 2 singles player for the Tigers, but did also hold a 3-1 record at No. 1 singles this year.

She sported a 12-3 record against Division III opponents this season and came into the singles tournament ranked sixth in the ITA West Region rankings.

The Tigers were third at this season's SCAC Championships, under the direction of second-year head coach Ryan Takao.
