Tiger Women's Tennis Falls to Pomona Saturday
Claremont, Calif. – The seventh-ranked Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens beat the No. 19 Trinity Tigers women’s tennis team 7-2 Saturday in a dual match.
Trinity, ranked third in the West Region, stands at 2-9, after the loss to No. 1 Pomona-Pitzer.
Tigers first-year player Thavindra Ekanayake of Sri Lanka won No. 3 singles, beating Nicole Holsted 6-1, 6-7, 10-8.
First-year Katie Budinsky of Houston (Cypress Falls) captured No. 4 singles, with a 6-4, 1-6, 10-6 victory over Jessica Hsu. A tiebreak was played instead of a third set in the two matches.
Trinity continues its California trip Sunday, with a 1 p.m. Pacific Time match at the University of Redlands. The Bulldogs are ranked 10th nationally, and No. 2 in the Region.
