Women's Tennis Falls to Carnegie Mellon Friday Afternoon in California
Claremont, Calif. – Carnegie Mellon, ranked No. 11 in the NCAA Division III, beat the 19th-ranked Trinity Tigers women’s tennis team 8-1 Friday afternoon at Claremont-Mudd-Scripp
Tiger first-year player Katie Budinsky of Houston (Cypress Falls) won No. 4 singles, beating Jennifer Chui 6-2, 7-5.
The loss marks the first of the season against a Division III opponent for the Tiger women's team. Trinity started the season facing teams from NCAA Division I and Division II, as well as taking on Junior College schools.
Trinity (2-8), ranked No. 3 in the West Region, plays the second match of its California trip Saturday at Pomona-Pitzer (ranked No. 7 nationally, No. 1 West Region). The starting time is 1 p.m. Pacific.
