UIW Beats Trinity Women in Inter-Divisional Match

San Antonio - The University of the Incarnate Word Cardinals were 6-3 winners over the Trinity Tigers women Saturday at Delavan Tennis Stadium.

Incarnate Word is ranked 24th in the NCAA Division II, and Trinity (0-7) is 19^th in Division III.

The Tigers took No. 1 doubles as junior Katy Poettcker and first-year player Thavindra Ekanayake beat UIW's Adriana Hernandez and Stephanie Rodriguez 8-4.

Trinity won No. 1 singles, with Poettcker beating Hernandez 6-3, 0-5, retired. Tiger sophomore Kassie Seger defeated Karen Rodriguez 7-5, 6-7, (10-5, a tiebreak instead of third set) at No. 6 singles.

Up next for the Tigers is a home date  March 6 with Hardin-Simmons and Schreiner.
