Women's Tennis Drops Opening Matches on Friday

Baytown, Texas - The Trinity women's tennis team, ranked No. 19 in the NCAA Division III, was edged 5-4 by Prairie View and 5-1 by Tarleton State at the Lady Rebel Invitational at Lee College on Friday.

The Prairie View match went down to No. 5 singles, when Margaret Banks of Prairie View beat Trinity's Megan Jackson 6-7, 6-4, (11-9).

Doubles teams of Katie Griffith/Erin Jamison and Kassie Seger/Katie Budinsky both scored wins to give the Tigers the early lead.  Budinsky and Seger also won in singles against Prairie View, but none of the other Trinity singles players were able to pull off wins.

Seger and Budinsky also won their second doubles match of the day against Tarleton State, and TSU clinched by winning the top three singles matches over the Tigers.

Trinity takes on JUCO powerhouse Lee College, the host team, at 10 a.m. Saturday.
