Women's Soccer Defeats Sewanee to Open SCAC Weekend
San Antonio - The seventh-ranked Trinity Tigers women scored two second-half goals to beat Sewanee: University of the South 2-0 Friday night in an Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference game at the Trinity Soccer Field.
Trinity, which won its 13th straight game, improved to 14-1-0 overall. The defending SCAC champion Tigers remained undefeated in conference play with a 7-0-0 mark.
Junior forward Kelly Watts put the Tigers on the board in the 61st minute, with an assist from senior midfielder Jordan Azar. Watts recorded her 11th goal of the campaign. Abby Loar, a junior forward, produced her 12th goal of the season, in the 79th minute, as Azar picked up her second assist. Azar has dished out eight assists this year.
Sophomore goalkeeper Katie Garrett played the full 90 minutes during the Tigers 10th shutout victory, and recorded two saves.
Trinity outshot Sewanee 19-4, and led 9-2 in shots on goal.
The Tigers wrap up their regular-season home schedule Sunday, with an SCAC game at 11 a.m. against Oglethorpe.
