Tiger Women's Soccer Defeats Millsaps Friday
San Antonio - The 10th-ranked Trinity Tigers women extended their winning streak to 10 games with a 7-0 shutout over the Millsaps Majors Friday night in a SCAC game at the Trinity Soccer Field.
Trinity, which registered its fifth shutout in a row, and seventh overall, improved to 11-1-0 and 5-0-0 SCAC.
The defending conference champion Tigers spritzed up the game by scoring six goals in the second half. The lone goal in the first half was made by senior midfielder Lindsey Neubauer in the 14th minute, on an assist by junior forward Abigail Loar.
Senior defender Danika Wright gave Trinity a 2-0 lead by scoring
early in the second half. Junior forward Kelly Watts scored in the
51st minute, with another assist from Loar. Twenty-six seconds
later, Loar scored the first of two goals, and was assisted by
senior midfielder
Jordan Azar. Loar accounted for her second goal of the night, in
the 60th minute, with an assist from Watts.
In the 62nd minute, Watts scored her second goal of the contest,
and Loar picked up her third assist. The final scoring play
occurred in the 86th minute, as
first-year midfielder Hannah Westberg took an assist from sophomore
midfielder Katy Lipscomb.
Trinity outshot Millsaps 39-0, and led 21-0 in shots on goal.
The Tigers continue their SCAC homestand Sunday by taking on Birmingham-Southern at 11 a.m. The game was originally scheduled for noon.
