Two Tiger Soccer Players Earn SCAC Player of the Week Honors

San Antonio - Trinity Tigers Jordan Azar and Jennifer White have been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Players of the Week.

Azar, a senior midfielder, was selected as SCAC Offensive Player of the Week, and White, a first-year defender, took the nod for SCAC Defensive Player of the Week. Both players are from Albuquerque, N.M.

The two Tiger players were honored for their performances after last week's three home shutout victories over Mary Hardin-Baylor (4-0), the University of Dallas (6-0), and Austin College (2-0) - a SCAC contest.

Azar, a graduate of St. Pius X, contributed two goals and two assists, scoring a point in all three games. Against Mary Hardin-Baylor, Azar scored a goal and an assist, then opened the weekend's action with a goal against Dallas. In Trinity's win over Austin College, Azar assisted on the eventual game-winner in the 76th minute of action, keeping the Tigers unbeaten in conference play.

For the season, Azar is third on the team with five goals, four assists, and 14 total points. With her assist on Sunday, Azar moved into the top 10 in Trinity history for career assists.

White, an Albuquerque Academy grad, led the Tiger women as she and her teammates held opponents to just four total shots in the three games. Trinity's taut defense has recorded four consecutive shutouts and nine straight wins. The Tigers have seven shutouts this season, and have yielded only one goal in the past seven games.

The 10th-ranked Tigers stand at 10-1-0 overall, and are 4-0-0 in SCAC play. The defending SCAC champions will host Millsaps at 6 p.m. Friday, and Birmingham-Southern at 11 a.m. Sunday. The game was originally scheduled for noon.
