Women's Soccer Finishes Weekend Sweep With Win at UT-Tyler
Tyler, Texas – The Trinity Tigers
women’s soccer team finished its road trip with a 2-1 victory
Sunday afternoon over the Texas-Tyler Patriots.
Trinity (3-1-0), which received votes in the National Soccer
Coaches Association of America Division III poll, opened the
weekend with a 2-1 overtime win over UT-Dallas on Friday. The
Tigers return to action on Friday, hosting California-Santa Cruz at
7 p.m. The game will be the first home game for the Tigers,
who had its original home opener postponed earlier this
week.
Trinity opened the scoring in Sunday’s contest with the
Patriots with a goal in the second half, as senior midfielder
Jordan Azar put Trinity on the board in the 49th minute. The assist
was from junior forward Kelly Watts, who chalked up two in the
game.
UT-Tyler evened the score at 1-1, on a goal by Analiz Medina in the
61st minute. But two minutes later, junior midfielder Dana Carter
produced the game-winner, on the assist by Watts, who now has three
for the season.
Trinity sophomore goalkeeper Katie Garrett recorded a season-best
five saves
UT-Tyler led 14-12 in shots, and the two teams were even in shots
on-goal, at seven each.
