Four Tiger Women's Soccer Players Earn All-Region Honors

San Antonio - Four members of the Trinity University women's soccer team, led by head coach Lance Key, have been elected to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Division III All-West Region Team.

Senior midfielder Brianna Young, junior defender Danika Wright, junior midfielder Jordan Azar, and sophomore forward Abby Loar made the All-West Region First Team.

Wright, from Alpine, Utah (Lone Peak); and Young, from Rockville Centre, N.Y. (South Side); are three-time All-Region honorees.

The two players shared top honors in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. Young was named SCAC Offensive Player of the Year, and Wright was Defensive Player of the Year.

Young tied for the team lead in points, with 37, scoring 14 goals (six game-winners) and dishing out nine assists. Wright led a staunch Trinity defense which yielded only five goals, and registered 14 shutouts. She scored five goals (one game-winner) and had three assists.

Loar, from Littleton, Colo. (Heritage), tied Young for the Tigers lead in points, scoring 15 goals (six game-winners) and meting out seven assists. Azar, from Albuquerque, N.M. (St. Pius X), accounted for eight Tiger assists.

All four players made the All-SCAC First Team.

Coach Key, in his sixth season, was named SCAC Coach of the Year for the third time. He guided the Tigers to a fourth SCAC Championship, and a 16-0-0 regular-season record. The Tigers advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals, and completed the campaign with an 18-0-1 record, and a No. 5 national ranking.
