Danika Wright Selected as SCAC Defensive Player of the Week

San Antonio - Trinity University Tigers senior defender Danika Wright of Alpine, Utah (Lone Peak), has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.

Wright led the Tigers to two shutout SCAC home victories last week over Rhodes (2-0) and Hendrix (1-0). Wright and the staunch Tiger defense allowed only four shots in each game, yielding three corner kicks and two shots on goal. For the season, Wright and the Tigers have recorded 12 shutouts in 16 games, giving up four total goals in nearly 1,500 minutes of action.

Trinity, led by sixth-year head coach Lance Key, will host an NCAA Division III second-round game Sunday at 6 p.m. The Tigers will take on the winner of Maryville (Tenn.) and Mary Washington (Va.), who play a first-round game Thursday in Maryville, Tenn. Trinity, ranked No. 3 in the nation, completed its second perfect regular season, with a 16-0-0 record.
