Trinity Defeats Millsaps Behind Young's Early Game-Winning Goal

Jackson, Mississippi - Trinity senior midfielder Brianna Young scored a goal in the 19th minute as the fifth-ranked Tigers remained undefeated with a 1-0 SCAC win over the Millsaps Majors Sunday afternoon.
Trinity, which registered its eighth shutout of the campaign, improved to 9-0-0 and 2-0-0 SCAC. Millsaps is 6-4-3 and 1-3-2 SCAC.

Junior midfielder Danika Wright fired a shot which was saved by the Millsaps goalkeeper. Young then scored on the rebound, marking her fifth game-winner of the season.

Young, who scored the game-winner in Trinity’s 3-0 SCAC victory over Birmingham-Southern last Friday in Alabama, leads the Tigers with seven goals and six assists for 20 points.

The Tigers led the Majors 14-3 in shots, and 5-1 in shots on goal. Trinity held a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.

Trinity returns home for two SCAC games next weekend. The Tigers will host Centre at 6 p.m. Friday, and DePauw at noon next Sunday.
