Trinity Women's Soccer Defeats Our Lady of the Lake Friday

San Antonio - The Trinity Tigers remained undefeated with a 3-0 shutout of the Our Lady of the Lake Saints Friday night, on the Tigers' field.

Trinity, ranked as high as No. 6 in the NCAA Division III, improved to 7-0-0. The Tigers also registered their sixth shutout of the season. The Saints, members of the NAIA, dropped to 3-4-0.

Senior midfielder Brianna Young scored the game-winning goal - assisted by sophomore forward Abigail Loar - in the 18th minute.

Young is ranked 13th in Trinity career goals, and needs just two more to become the 12th player in Tigers' history to record 30 in a career. She is tied for the lead this season in goals with Loar, with five each. Young also produced her third game-winner of the season.

Junior midfielder Danika Wright scored in the 28th minute, with an assist from sophomore defender Allyson Thrall, from a corner kick.

Sophomore forward Kelly Watts added the third goal, in the 74th minute.

Trinity first-year goalkeeper Katie Garrett had two saves in the game.                             

Trinity outshot the Lake 22-5, and led 13-2 in shots on goal. The Tigers were 15-0 leaders in corner kicks.

The Tigers have off until Oct. 9, when they travel to Birmingham, Ala., to take on Birmingham-Southern in an SCAC game. Trinity  (1-0-0 SCAC) returns home Oct. 16 to host Centre in a conference game.
