San Antonio - Trinity's Abby Holland has been selected as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
The sophomore forward and her teammates won both games of their Trinity Thanksgiving Classic last weekend. The 12th-ranked Tigers defeated Hardin-Simmons (TX) University 73-48, and then finished the event with a 77-61 victory over the University of Texas at Tyler.
Holland tied teammate Micah Weaver with a game-leading 18 points against Hardin-Simmons. In addition to shooting 6-10 from the field and going 5-5 at the charity stripe, Holland also had a team-best six rebounds and tied her career-best total with six steals.
Holland tied two other Tiger players for the team's scoring honors against UT-Tyler with 15 points a piece. It was once again Holland who led the Tigers in rebounds, as she pulled down eight boards in the matchup with the Patriots.
This season, Holland is second on the Tigers team with 17.0 points per game. She leads in rebounds with 6.8 per contest and is tied for the lead with 18 total steals. Holland has connected on 49.1% of her shots, going 28-57 from the field.
Led by sixth-year Head Coach Cameron Hill, the Tigers are sporting a 3-1 record. Trinity returns to action December 18 by hosting Louisiana College.
