Trinity's Jana Tucker Named SCAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week
San Antonio -- Trinity University Tigers sophomore post Jana
Tucker (Katy, Texas/Seven Lakes) has been selected as the Southern
Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the
Week.
Tucker led the Tigers to a 71-62 non-conference victory at the
University of Dallas last week, snapping Trinity's five-game losing
streak.
The 5-foot-10 Tucker registered her first double-double of the
season, by scoring 13 points and pulling down 19 rebounds. Tucker's
19-rebounds performance ties her for 10th in the Trinity record
books for a single game. She shot 4-9 from the field and 4-5 from
the charity stripe, and also made three steals in 33 minutes of
playing time.
An impressive stat is that Tucker scored all of her 13 points in
the second half, as well as grabbing 12 of the rebounds.
Tucker is third on the team in scoring (8.6 points per game), and
leads the Tigers with 8.0 rebounds per contest. She is shooting
31.7 percent (20-63) from the field, is tied for third in Tigers
steals, with 13.
The Tigers (2-5, 0-1 SCAC) return home Dec. 28-29 to host the
Trinity Christmas Classic. Trinity takes on East Texas Baptist at
noon Dec. 28, and Hardin-Simmons at 2 p.m. Dec. 29.
