Tiger Women Fall to UT-Dallas Sunday Afternoon

Richardson, Texas - The Trinity Tiger women's basketball team lost an 82-60 non-conference game against the University of Texas-Dallas at the UTD Activity Center on Sunday afternoon.

Trinity (1-1) opened its season last Saturday with a 77-69 win at Texas-Tyler.  UT-Dallas remains undefeated at 3-0 to start the 2010-11 season.
 
Tiger junior forward Abby Dietert of Cibolo, Texas (Steele), led Trinity with 18 points, seven rebounds, and four steals. Dietert shot 6-12 from the field and also made three assists.

Senior guard Danielle Hubenak of San Antonio (Churchill) added 14 points, five rebounds, and two assists. First-year guard Nicolette Halbleib of Aurora, Colo. (Grandview), wrapped up the double-figure scorers with 13 points.
 
Sophomore post Jana Tucker of Katy, Texas (Seven Lakes), pulled in six rebounds (four points). First-year forward Libby Kruse of Minnetrista, N.M. (Orono), also had six rebounds (two points), and tied for the assists lead, with three.
 
UT-Dallas led 34-28 at halftime, and took a 15-point 52-37 lead in the second half (12:33). The Tigers got to within seven points after that, closing to a 51-58 count on a free throw by Kruse with under seven minutes to play. But the Comets responded by outscoring the Tigers 23-7 to take their largest lead of the game (81-58).
 
Comets guard Lyndsey Smith led the game with 32 points, and shot 10-14 from 3-point range. Smith's 3-point shooting set UT-Dallas and American Southwest Conference single-game records. UT-Dallas shot 55.6 beyond the arc as a team.
 
Trinity shot 36.7 percent from the field, and Texas-Dallas hit 41.7 percent. The Tigers held a 43-41 advantagge in rebounding, and led 19-14 in offensive boards.
