Abby Dietert Named SCAC Co-Player of the Week
San Antonio - Trinity University Tigers junior forward Abby Dietert (Cibolo, Texas/Steele) has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Co-Player of the Week.
Dietert paced the Tigers to a SCAC weekend sweep of Sewanee: The University of the South and Oglethorpe, in road games last weekend.
She averaged 20 points and 5.5 rebounds per game, and turned in a career-best 30-point performance against Oglethorpe. Dietert is the second Tiger player this season to score 30 or more points in a game this season.
Dietert shot 69.6 percent (16-23) from the field, and sank 6-10 (60 percent) at the free throw line. Beyond the arc, Dietert hit 2-4, while chalking up four assists and six steals.
This season, Dietert leads the Tigers with 17.6 points per game, and 38 total steals. Dietert is second in rebounds (6.5 per game), and has accounted for 24 total assists. An accurate shooter, Dietert has made 50 percent (92-184) of her shots from the field, and 72.3 percent (69-94) at the charity stripe.
The Tigers (6-9, 3-4 SCAC), led by head Coach Amie Bradley, are on a three-game winning streak. Trinity will host defending SCAC champion DePauw Friday, and Centre on Saturday. Each game tips off at 6 p.m. in Sams Gym.
