Trinity Tigers Women Score Season-High in Points in Victory Over Colorado College

San Antonio - The 10^th-ranked Trinity University Tigers women scored a season-high in points in a 92-82 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victory over the Colorado College Tigers Sunday in Sams Gym.

Trinity, which snapped a two-game losing streak, improved to 8-3 and 2-1 SCAC.

Junior guard Danielle Hubenak led the game with a personal season-best 25 points, while sophomore guard Ali Marzella contributed 23. Hubenak, from, San Antonio (Churchill), shot 8-17 from the field, and made all nine free throw attempts. She also was the game leader in rebounds (eight) and assists (six). Marzella, from Katy, Texas (Taylor), hit 3-9 from the field, and 2-5 in 3-pointers, but drilled 15-16 free throws. She also grabbed seven rebounds.

Sophomore forward Abby Dietert of Cibolo, Texas (Steele), added 17 points, on 7-11 shooting. Dietert went 3-3 at the charity stripe, and also had seven rebounds, along with two assists.

The Tigers, who led 48-39 at halftime, shot 50 percent in the first half, to 60 percent for Colorado College. The Colorado Tigers came within one point of their Texas counterparts in the second half, 67-68 (9:12 remaining). But Trinity outscored Colorado College 24-15 to capture the game.

Colorado College (7-4, 2-2 SCAC) was paced by Becky Luetjen's 24 points.

Trinity shot 46 percent, to 45 percent for Colorado College. The Trinity Tigers hit 34-36 free throws (94 percent) to 79 percent (26-33) for Colorado College. Trinity led 37-29 in rebounding, and held a 10-6 edge in offensive boards.

The two teams will meet again Feb. 14, at Colorado Springs, Colo.

Next up for Trinity will be two SCAC road games Friday, Jan. 8, against Hendrix (Conway, Ark.), and Sunday, Jan. 10, with Millsaps (Jackson, Miss.). The Tigers return home Friday, Jan. 15, to host defending SCAC champion Oglethorpe.
