Hubenak Earns SCAC Player of the Week Award

San Antonio - Trinity University Tigers junior guard Danielle Hubenak of San Antonio (Churchill) has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Co-Player of the Week.

It marks the second time this season Hubenak has been elected a SCAC Player of the Week. Hubenak played a major role in the Tigers' weekend home SCAC victories over Birmingham-Southern (65-55) and Rhodes (92-86, overtime).

The 5-foot-7 Hubenak broke Trinity's career record for assists during the Birmingham-Southern game, chalking up six assists and 11 points. Hubenak surpassed the previous record-holder, Christal Seahorn, who amassed 295 assists from 1995-1999.

Following the game with Rhodes, Hubenak became the first Tiger women's player to eclipse the 300-assists plateau (301 total). She scored Trinity's final 12 points in the overtime period - hitting three 3-pointers and three free throws - for a 20-point game total, along with producing four assists.

Hubenak averaged 15.5 points, 5.0 assists, and 5.0 rebounds per game over the two games, shooting 53.3 percent (8-15) from the field and 80 percent (8-10) from the foul line.  She also sank an impressive 77.8 percent (7-9) from beyond the arc.

For the season, Hubenak is averaging 12.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game (80 total).

Hubenak will be honored during halftime of Friday's men's SCAC game with Hendrix. The tip-off is 8 p.m.

Trinity, led by head coach Amie Bradley, stands at 14-5 and 8-3 SCAC, tied for second place in the conference Western Division with Austin College. The Tigers have won two games in a row, and six of the last seven.

The Tigers close out their regular-season home schedule with two SCAC games this weekend, starting with Hendrix at 6 p.m. Friday. Millsaps comes to campus for a Sunday game, at noon.
