Abilene, Texas – Several members of Trinity's men's and women's track & field teams competed at the Abilene Christian University Last Chance Meet on Sunday.
The Tigers are attempting to qualify for the NCAA Championships, held in La Crosse, Wisconsin, from May 24-26.
Androniki Defteraios had the busiest day for Trinity, competing in three different events. She posted her season-best time of 15.45 seconds in the 100 meter hurdles.
Defteraios also reached 1.52 meters in the high jump to tie the team season-high in the event, as well as tying her own personal record. Her long jump of 5.36 meters was her best of the 2018 season and the second-longest jump of her career.
Abigail Schneebeck and Andy Garza were neck-and-neck in the 400 meter hurdles, with Schneebeck edging out her teammate. Garza's time was her third-fastest this season and the third-fastest of her career.
Stella Affognon threw 37.67 meters in the discus and 11.32 meters in the shot put, which is the second-best throw in the shot in her career.
Stewart also had his best time of the season in the 100 meter dash, finishing in 10.91 seconds.
Matta and Martin also posted their top times this season in the 200 meter dash. Matta finished in 21.77 seconds, followed closely by Martin's time of 22.06 seconds.
Walker also competed in the 400 meter dash, racing to the finish in 50.72 seconds. Matthew Love reached 48.84 meters in the discus throw.
Select Tiger student-athletes will travel to Naperville, Illinois, for the Gregory Invitational on Wednesday and Thursday, May 16-17.
