Trinity's Wildman Named National Scholar Athlete of the Year

San Antonio – Trinity University graduate Todd Wildman, the pentathlon national champion, has been named a men’s Division III Scholar Athlete of the Year.

Wildman, from Dallas (Jesuit), was selected as the Indoor Field Scholar Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Scholar Athletes are determined from among those who earned All- Academic status, and placed highest in individual events at the most recent NCAA Championships.

Wildman earned a master’s in accounting from Trinity. He had a 4.0 grade point average in his first semester as a graduate student, while making the Dean's List numerous times throughout undergrad.

The talented Wildman was a two-time national champion, winning the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Pentathlon Championship in 2009 and 2010.  He won numerous Regional Runner-of-the-Year Awards and Southern Collegiate Athletic conference championships. This year, Wildman was awarded with the prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. He was also given the Trinity Award for Student Achievement in Scholastics and Athletics.

Wildman joined senior Zach Brush (Edmond, Okla.; Edmond North);  juniors Justin Campbell (Victoria, Texas; Memorial) and Spencer Hayes (Clear Lake, Texas; Clear Lake); and graduate Bryant Wright (Tulsa, Okla.; Holland Hall) as members of the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team.

The Trinity Tigers men’s and women’s track and field teams are led by head coach David Svoboda, who will begin his third year at the helm.
