Trinity's Brush Advances to NCAA Men's 800 Final
Berea, Ohio – Trinity University Tigers junior Zach Brush advanced to the 800-meter finals of the NCAA Division III Men’s Track and Field Championships Friday at Baldwin-Wallace College.
Brush, from Edmond, Okla. (Edmond North), ran the event in 1:51.16. It was the second best time of the day, surpassed only by Emmanuel Bofa of Whitworth, who clocked in at 1:50.86. Bofa took the race out hard, with Brush sitting in fifth place and coming through the 400 at a speedy 54. Zach finished hard with a solid 57 for the second lap and passed three runners in the process.
The 800-meter finals are slated for Saturday at 3 p.m. Eastern Time.
Brush competed in the 800 event at the NCAA Championships his freshman year, placing fifth, and earning All-America honors. He has a personal best and school record time of 1:51.01. Brush was also a member of the distance medley relay Trinity team at the NCAA Indoors earlier this year. The team placed second in the nation, earning Brush his second All-America honor.
