Buckeris Breaks Decade-Old Record to Highlight Tiger Relays Friday
San Antonio, TX- The Tiger Track team was back in action today with a solid showing at their second home meet of the season.
The meet was highlighted by sophomore Robby Buckeris setting a new school record in the hammer, along with wins from first-year Elana Edwards and junior Corey Callahan in the women’s high jump and heptathlon, respectively.
Buckeris broke his first of what is sure to be many school records in the hammer throw with a mark of 40.07. His mark edges out the previous school record of 39.89m, set by Rich Coffey in 2000.

Callahan won five of the seven events contested in the heptathlon: the 200 meter dash, 800 meter run, javelin throw, shot put, and long jump. She also came in second in the 100m hurdles and fourth in the high jump.
Edwards, also from Austin, notched her win in the high jump with a height of 1.60m (5’03”), topping the other six contenders in the event. Senior Elizabeth Tweedy finished second in the javelin with a throw of 34.30m (112-06) - an incredible two-meter personal best for the senior.
