Trinity Men's Distance Medley Team Places Fourth in Boston Meet

Boston - The Trinity University Tigers men's distance medley team placed fourth (of 15 entries) Friday night at the Boston University Valentine Invitational indoor track and field meet, with a time of 9:59.66.

It is the second-best NCAA Division III time in the nation, and also is an NCAA provisional qualifying mark. The NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships begin March 12 at Greencastle, Ind.

Team members were senior Chass Armstrong of Boerne, Texas (Boerne); senior Todd Wildman of Dallas (Jesuit); junior Zach Brush of Edmond, Okla. (Edmond North); and senior Bryant Wright of Tulsa, Okla. (Holland Hall).

Wildman won the men's pentathlon Feb 5 at the Illinois Wesleyan Keck Invitational Pentathlon at Bloomington, Ill. Wildman, who captured the indoor NCAA Division III title last year, recorded an NCAA automatic score of 3,876 points. He also automatically qualified in the 55-meter hurdles with a school-record time of 7.50 seconds. 

Junior Caitlin Masse of Katy, Texas (Cinco Ranch), placed seventh in the women's 5,000 meters, with a solid NCAA provisional time of 17:23.48.

Trinity's men's team is currently ranked No. 7 in indoor competition by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The BU Valentine Invitational concludes Saturday.
