Trinity Athletes Win Seven Events at St. Olaf Friday

Northfield, Minn. - The Trinity University Tigers men's and women's track and field teams won seven indoor events Friday at the St. Olaf Qualifier.

Senior Todd Wildman of Dallas (Jesuit), the defending NCAA Division III Men's Indoor pentathlon champion, won the 55-meter hurdles (7.56 seconds, NCAA provisional time), and the long jump (6.99 meters, 21-11 ½). He earlier received NCAA automatic marks in the pentathlon and 55 hurdles (7.50) and long jump (6.96 meters).

Wildman was also part of the first-place Tiger team in the 4x400-meter relay (3:25.09). The team members were Wildman; senior Brennen Peters of Austin, Texas (Austin); junior Zach Brush of Edmond, Okla. (Edmond North); and sophomore Spencer Hayes of Clear Lake, Texas (Clear Lake).

Hayes won the 55-meter dash (6.47 seconds, NCAA provisional time). Senior Chass Armstrong of Boerne, Texas (Boerne), captured the mile race (4:15.74, NCAA provisional time).

Senior Nicole Fisk of San Pedro, Calif. (Chadwick), won the women's 400-meter dash (59.66 seconds). First-year Elana Edwards of Austin (Bowie) took the high jump (1.62 meters, 5-3 ¾).

The NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships begin March 12 at Greencastle, Ind. The event will be hosted by Trinity's fellow SCAC member, DePauw.

Trinity's teams were originally scheduled to compete in the NYU (New York University) Fast Track, but heavy snow in the New York area made travel difficult. The Tiger team members will compete Saturday at the UIW (University of the Incarnate Word) Invitational in San Antonio.
