Tiger Women Win, Men Second at Trinity Western Shootout
Southlake, Texas - The Trinity Tigers women
captured the Trinity Western Shootout Saturday with a score of
869.5 at the Carroll ISD Natatorium, while the men finished
second with 816 points.
Trinity and Centenary's women's teams placed ahead of Texas-Permian
Basin, Southwestern, Hendrix, McMurry, North Texas, and Austin
College.
Rounding out the men's field, behind UT-Permian Basin and Trinity,
were Centenary, Southwestern, McMurry, Austin College, and
Hendrix.
Trinity's Melanie Gustafson won three women's events: the 500-yard
freestyle (5:20.70), the 400-yard individual medley (4:49.32), and
the 1,650-yard freestyle (18:12.01).
Kelly Holton captured the 100-yard breaststroke (1:10.63), and
Lydia Jones won the 200-yard freestyle (1:59.15).
All-America diver Ruth Hahn was victorious on both boards, winning
the 1-meter (449.15), and the 3-meter (469.95) events.
Alex Miranda finished first in two men's races, the 500-yard
freestyle (4:47.36), and the 1,650-yard freestyle (16:42.81).
Richard Hawley won the men's 3-meter diving (377.55), and Kevin
Martin took the 1-meter (478.65).
